How to tell if your site was hacked

Signs to look for

• Your home page looks different, or shows text or images you did not add.
• Visitors are sent to other sites, especially on phones.
• Search results show your site with spam words, like pills or casinos.
• Browsers show a red warning before opening your site.
• Your host emails you about strange activity or high usage.
• There are new admin users you do not know.

Quick checks

• Open your site on a phone, not just your computer.
• Search for site:yourdomain.com and look for pages you did not create.
• Check your admin user list.
